An estimated 315 people – more than three times what organizers were hoping for – showed up before 7 a.m. Saturday to participate in the Dam Color Run that was part of this year’s Christmas in July festivities at Foss Reservoir.
Run participants ran and/or walked the 3.1 miles across the Foss Dam. Vehicular traffic was stopped until the run was over.
Amber Cox of Project Snip ’n Stitch, with the Friends for Life animal group, said the run unofficially grossed over $10,000. Each of the participants paid $30 to take part, and sponsorships in varying amounts were sold to businesses and other organizations whose names were printed on the backs of T-shirts given to the runners.
