Betty Stevenson

Graveside services for Betty Stevenson, 93, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in the Custer City Masonic Cemetery with Doyle Kinney ociating. Betty Jo (Lambert) Stevenson died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 31, 1920, the daughter of John and Ruby (Ferguson) Lambert in Hammon. Mrs. Stevenson moved to Dodge City, Kan. at a young age and graduated from Dodge City High School. After moving back to Oklahoma she settled in the Custer City and Putnam areas. She married Roy Stevenson on Jan. 6, 1942, in Clinton. They made their home at Custer City where they farmed for many years. In 1961, she was also employed as secretary for Custer County Farm Bureau where she worked for 24 years and retired in late 1985. She moved to Clinton in 2004, but as her health declined she moved to Edmond in 2012. Mrs. Stevenson was a faithful and active member of the First Christian Church; she enjoyed playing bridge and working on crossword puzzles. Preceeding her in death were her husband in 2001, her parents, a sister, June Whitson, and a brother, Ferg Lambert. She is survived by two daughters, La Denta Carpenter and husband L.D. of Butler and Vicki Simpson and husband Terry of Edmond; six grandchildren, Steve Walker and family of Edmond, Lance Carpenter and family, Leah Beer and family, and Lake Carpenter and family, all of Leedey, Mandy Carpenter and family of Clovis, N.M., and Taryn Palesano and family of Marysville, Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild. The family will greet guests from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
