Action looks near in six murder cases
Five murder cases are now pending in Custer County and its two neighboring counties to the north and south, and a sixth is pending at Norman in Cleveland County in which the victim was the daughter of Clinton and Arapaho residents.
After months of behind-the-scenes work by investigators and attorneys, things will begin heating up this month with preliminary hearings scheduled in two of the cases. And they’re set for the same day starting only 30 minutes and 20 miles apart.
Defendants in the five cases are as follows:
• Jeronimo Garcia-Espinoza, 45, who was living in Clinton when he allegedly shot Reza Antonio Colchado to death here in 2007;
• Kathryn Lynn Hicks, also 45, a former Cache resident who allegedly shot Michael Beach to death at his Cordell home in late November last year;
• Jeremy Doss Hardy, 36, from Pasadena, Texas, who allegedly shot to death Kent Powell, 45, of Clinton, and Billie Jean West, 63, of Lone Wolf, as they drove along Interstate 40 last December in separate vehicles;
• Lanne Baldwin, 25, a former Bessie resident who allegedly shot to death his estranged wife, Cassandra Baldwin, at her Taloga home in early January; and
• Keenan Lynn Holcomb, 32, of Midwest City, who allegedly strangled former Clinton resident Tami Elston at her Norman apartment in June.
