Child sex sting lands city resident

Danny George, a former state legislator from Elk City who worked at least a year in 2013 and 2014 as a contracted consultant and lobbyist for the City of Clinton, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Owasso for allegedly soliciting sex with a child.

The arrest was the result of a month-long online sting operation, said Owasso police.

George, 61, was arrested at an Owassso restaurant when he showed up at 4 p.m. Tuesday to meet what he had been led to believe was an underage female, Deputy Police Chief Jason Woodruff said in a news release.

The defendant had been living most recently in Clinton. The release said he agreed to travel to Owasso, which is located just north of Tulsa, to have sex with the girl.
