City saving on service pact but gets no bids on ag lease

Clinton city councilmen got good news Tuesday when they were able to save $3,000 annually on one transaction but bad news on another when no bids were received for the lease of 315 acres of farmland around the city’s airport.
The $3,000-per-year savings came when Information Technology Manager Gene McCullough found a new service provider for the city’s telephonic community notification system. BlackboardConnect has been providing the service for $8,024 a year, but Nixle of Glendale, Calif. – an Everbridge company – agreed to do the same thing for $5,000 annually.
“It’s a service we already have. You probably wouldn’t notice a change,” McCullough told the councilmen before they voted 4-0 for the new contract.
