Clinton schools say thanks on Board Member Appreciation Day

Students and teachers got a chance to say “thank you” to Clinton school board members on Friday, during the second annual Board Member Appreciation Day. Each school was visited by a board member, who was given a tour of the school facility and had the chance to visit classrooms and see the students in action on a typical day.

Clinton school superintendent Kevin Hime started the Appreciation Day tradition last year, because he wanted school board members to have the opportunity to see what their hard work has helped accomplish. “They give away their time for free,” said Hime. “They have a huge responsibility and they aren’t paid for what they do.”

Each board member visited a different school than the one they attended on last year’s Appreciation Day, to have the chance to get a fuller picture of the schools in the district. By having only one board member at a time visit a school, they’re able to spend more time with students and staff and get an in-depth view of the school overall.
