Cordell quietly names interim chief of police

Folks who showed up at a special Cordell City Council meeting Wednesday evening expecting fireworks probably went home disappointed.
There were no fireworks, unless they occurred in an executive session behind closed doors, which comprised most of the hour-long meeting.
After coming out of the executive session, the council voted 4-3 to appoint current police officer Steven Nail as interim police chief. Asked how long “interim” would be, City Administrator J.C. Moser said, “Anywhere from days, depending on the next council meeting, up to a year.”
