Initial flows good from Canute wells

Two 24-hour flow tests have been run on the wells at Canute that hopefully will be supplying Clinton with water for the next 40 years, and consultant Lonnie Teel said Tuesday the tests were very good.
Teel said all four wells were tested one day last week and together they flowed 634,000 gallons per day. Then Monday, just three of them were tested and they flowed 525,000 gallons.
The city’s contract with the Town of Canute calls for 500,000 gallons to be provided each day. Teel said that technically it’s impossible to hit right on the 500,000 mark and when production starts, he expects the wells to flow in the 555,000-to-557,000-gpd range. He said as many of the four wells will be used each day as needed to reach the 500,000-gallon mark – that it might be only two, three or sometimes all four.
