Round-up Club preparing to host annual rodeo

The 69th annual Clinton Round-Up Club Rodeo and Parade is happening at the end of this month, and according to Round-Up Club member and rodeo organizer Launa Kimble, they expect a strong showing again this year. “The club has grown a lot the last couple of years,” she said, “and contestants from all over come to the Clinton rodeo.”
The rodeo will take place Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30, at 8 p.m. both nights at the Custer County Fairgrounds. The parade through downtown Clinton will start at 10:30 a.m. that Saturday, with 40 to 50 horses and riders, Kimble said.
There were 225 rodeo contestants last year, she said, and they expect about the same number this year — along with 1,600 to 1,800 spectators. Gayla’s Market will be in charge of the concession stand, and the Clinton Fire Department will be there again this year.
