State use of private prisons to be studied

While the Oklahoma Legislature will not be in session for another five months, it doesn’t mean State Rep. Harold Wright (R-Weatherford) isn’t busy addressing issues that affect his western Oklahoma district.
Wright is part of the House of Representatives leadership team that sets the direction the body will take when it convenes in February.
Before the session begins, he is planning an interim study that has to do with overcrowding at the state’s prisons, while at the same time private correctional facilities in the state sit empty.
“While I don’t have a private prison in my district, they do impact the areas I represent,” said Wright.
