Traffic stop may have prevented prison drop

Two Sayre residents and one from Elk City are facing charges of trafficking in illegal drugs after approximately five ounces of crystal methamphetamine were found July 21 in a pickup stopped on Interstate 40 west of Clinton.
Besides the meth, Trooper Michael Eckhardt of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol wrote in an affidavit that five new cell phones wrapped in electrical tape also were found. He said Investigator Joey Bales of the District II Drug Task Force interviewed the suspects and told him afterwards that they were destined for a prison drop.
