Two older men charged with assault, battery

Two Custer County senior citizens, a 58-year-old from Weatherford and a 69-year-old from Clinton, are facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after each allegedly sent his victim to the hospital.

Those charged are Billy Berryman of Weatherford and Clarence Elbert of Clinton. Their respective victims were Devin Herring of Weatherford and Myron McGill of Clinton.
Berryman is accused of hitting Herring in the head twice with a pool cue, the first blow knocking him to the floor, and also punching him several times with his fists. The incident occurred at the 117 Bar, 117 S. Broadway in Weatherford.

An affidavit written by Patrolman Josh Melton of the Weatherford Police Department said a doctor at the Weatherford hospital told him Herring had facial lacerations and fractures of both orbital bones that would require surgery at another hospital.
