Elsie Willson

Funeral services for centenarian Elsie Willson, 101, Grand Junction, Colo. resident, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Burial will be in the Mound Valley Cemetery at Thomas.

Mrs. Willson died Aug. 22, 2014. She was born March 4, 1913 on the family farm, the seventh of eight children born to Dick and Susan Cordes.

She married YC Lee Askins in 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1942 from a heart attack.

She married again in 1943 to Levi Willson.

She moved frequently following construction jobs across many states before retiring and moving back to Oklahoma to the land left to her by her parents.

She was active in the Rebeccas Home Extension Club, Quilting Club and Vicksburg Church.

Levi preceded her in death in 1985, and she continued to live on the farm until 1995, when she moved to Grand Junction, Colo. to be close to family.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Sue Riggs, of Rock Springs, Wyo., Wilma Chandler and her husband, Floyd, of Grand Junction, Colo., and Marie Woods and her husband, Ron, of Cres-well, Ore.; grandchildren, Donna Goetz and her husband, Frank, and Crystal Delaney, of Rock Springs, Wyo., Ed Chandler and his wife, Brenda, of Grand Junction, Colo., Sherry Daniel and her husband, Curtis, of Chickamauga, Ga., Penny Eaton of Grand Junction, Colo., and Gary Woods and his wife, Bella, of Arlington, Va.; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Clysta Vea Kruger, Gerri Cordes, Gordon Cordes, Evalyene Williams and Bertha Alice Radke.

Precedng her in death were four sisters, Grace Crum, Alice Schumn Crum, Mary Williams, Maggie Cordes; three brothers, Herman Francis and D.H. Cordes; and four grandchildren.
