Lance Clayton Merrill
Funeral services for Clinton resident Lance Clayton Merrill, 32, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Church of Christ, 2601 Custer Ave., officiated by Pat Peters and Vann Leonard.
Merrill died Saturday, July 4, 2015, near Comanche following a motorcycle accident. He was born Sept. 29, 1982, in Clinton, the son of Kyle Byron Merrill and Rhonda Sue (Clayton) Merrill.
Raised in Clinton, he graduated from Clinton High School in 2001. While in high school he attended Western Technology Center at Burns Flat and received his certificate as a diesel mechanic.
Merrill had been employed with Max McKinsey Motors and Dusty Ballard Motors. He was also employed in the oilfields as a derrick hand for the past several years.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Shorty and Alice Clayton; and paternal grandparents,Bruce and Gwen Merrill and Marvin McCathern.
Survivors include his two daughters, Lexa Lyn Merrill and Leslie Clayton Merrill and the mother of his children, Lori (Schmidt) Merrill, his parents, Rhonda and Farron McCathern, and a brother, Christopher “Topher” McCathern and his wife, Terra, all of Clinton; a sister, Jami Dudgeon, and her husband, Justin, of Bessie; grandmother, Helen McCathern of Anadarko; and nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.
