Nellie Irene Chapman
Funeral services for Nellie Irene Chapman, 89, Cordell resident, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, officiated by Janice Meese. Burial will conclude in the Arapaho Cemetery.
Miss Chapman died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, in the Cordell Christian Home. She was born May 1, 1926 to Richard R. Chapman and Nina A. (Ealey) Chapman in Arapaho.
Miss Chapman was raised in Arapaho and attended Arapaho School. She continued her education at Southwestern State College and received an elementary education degree. She enlisted in the U.S. Army on Dec. 21, 1961. She served in the medical field as an X-ray technician and received her Honorable Discharge Sept. 4, 1964 as a Private First Class, E-3.
She moved to Houston, Texas and worked for the Kelsey-Seibold Clinic and was an X-ray technician supervisor. She had retired and moved to Cordell where she was a resident of the Village and later the Cordell Christian Home.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Elvin Chapman; two sisters, Nora Lee Nonanst and Lucile Ford Langley; and several nieces and nephews.
