Curtis Dwain Carpenter
A Mass of Christian Burial for Curtis Dwain Carpenter, 62, Clinton resident, will be at 10 am. Friday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clinton, officiated by Father Thomas Pudota.
Carpenter died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, in his Clinton home. He was born Jan. 19, 1953 to Dwain “Doc” and Joyce Louellyn (Jantz) Carpenter in Clinton.
Carpenter spent most of his youth in the Butler area where he attended school and was active with baseball; he graduated from Butler High School in 1971.
He soon enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent time in Germany as well as the Panama Canal.
After his discharge, he returned to the Butler area and had done carpentry work and oilfield work most of his adult life.
He was married to Lucila Catarina Tovar on Aug. 3, 1987 in Arapaho, and they have made their home in Clinton and due to failing health he was medically retired in 2009.
He was preceded in death by his father, and infant grandson.
He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Lucila, of the home; his mother and step father, Joyce Louelleyn and Jerry White of Elk City; two daughters, Kendra Carpenter, of Oklahoma City and Mariela Acosta and her husband, John, of Clinton; two sons, Kerwin Carpenter and wife, Liz, of Foss and Israel Carpenter, of the home; two sisters, Bonnie Lathrom with Scott Dotter, and Ginger Baker and husband, Rex, of Butler; 10 grandchildren, Ashlyn Whitten, Chandler Miller, Randy Carpenter, James Carpenter, Zoe Carpenter, Kaden Carpenter, Zachary Heath, Lawrence Hebert, Zachary Acota and Abigail Acosta and two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery, under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
