Kyle Ray

A celebration of life for Kyle Ray, 62, of Burns Flat, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Arapaho Tabernacle Baptist Church.

James Kyle Ray was born May 11, 1953, to Carlton and Theresa (Berry) Ray at Altus. He died Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, in his Burns Flat home following a battle with cancer.

He was raised in Altus where he graduated from Altus High School in 1972. He completed two semesters at Cameron University in Lawton before starting a career in the oilfields.

On Feb. 7, 1998, he married Sandra Jo Thompson at Bessie, and they had made their home at Burns Flat since.

Ray was employed with the Midwestern Oklahoma Development Authority in Burns Flat until he was forced to retire for medical reasons in June of 2015.

He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

An outdoorsman and nature lover, he enjoyed working in the yard. He also was musically inclined, playing and listening to different kinds.

Ray was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed football. His passion was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of the home; a daughter, Vanessa Wohl, and her husband, Andres, of Hollister, Mo.; his mother and step-father, Theresa and Walter Hoehne, Altus; his father and step-mother, Carlton and Sue Ray, of Tipton; a sister, Monica Merritt, Oklahoma City; and three brothers, Mike Ray, Altus, Gene Paul Ray, Abilene, Texas, and Mike Merritt, Cordell.

Eight grandchildren also survive. They are Stoney Cormier, Ryan Zacc Reardon, Bryan Cormier, David Reardon, Trinity Larson, A.J. Wohl, Aubrey Wohl and Shekinah-Glory Larson.
Rev. Wendell Folsom will officiate at the service. Arrangements are under direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.
