Irene Powers

Funeral services will be held for Irene Elizabeth Powers, 78, of Custer City, at 10 a.m. Monday in the Custer City Methodist Church
Irene died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, in the Weatherford Corn Heritage Village.

Powers was born Sept. 12, 1937, to Dave and Flossie (Barney) Metzler, in Custer City. She was raised in Custer City, where she graduated from high school in 1955. She married Curtis Powers in 1956, and they made their homes in Lawton and Folsom, Calif. She worked as a receptionist in a doctor’s office for several years. The couple returned to Custer City after retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Custer City Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, David Powers; and a sister, LaVerne Breitling.

She is survived by a son, Timothy Powers and wife, Terri, of Custer City; two sisters, Della Howard, of Bethany, and Florence O’Hara, of Custer City; and four grandchildren, Amanda Childers and husband, Brian, of Hawaii, Carrie Powers, of Clinton, Josh Powers and wife, Katie, and Jordan Powers, all of Arizona.  

Services will be officiated by Rev. Greg Keith, Rev. Jerry Yoder and Rev. Brad Jones. Interment will be at Custer City Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
