Billie Jean West

Funeral services for Billie Jean West, 63, of Lone Wolf and formerly of Erick, will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the First Baptist Church in Erick.

Mrs. West died early Thursday morning, Dec. 17, 2015, at Weatherford, the victim of a road-rage shooting.

The former Billie Jean Lance was born April 14, 1952, at Corpus Christi, Texas, to Thelma Mae and William Ernest Lance.

Growing up in Corpus Christi, she attended Mary Carroll High School. She and her first husband had three daughters – Laura, Sheila and Margaret – and while raising her girls, she worked as a helicopter mechanic for the Corpus Christi Army Depot.

In 1989 she married Ronnie West. They retired shortly thereafter and moved to Erick, Okla., where they made their home.

Mrs. West eventually opened and operated the 4-E Drive Through and Bottle Shop with her daughter, Sheila. She greatly enjoyed cooking for and feeding her customers, and when she wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially on vacations. She liked to fish and camp with them, and also playing bingo and going to the casino where she made many friends.

After their second retirement, she and her husband made their home in Lone Wolf.

“Granny,” as she was known to many, is survived by her husband, Ronnie, of the home; three daughters, Laura Ann Carlucci and husband Mike, of Elk City, Sheila Dee Elizondo and husband Andy, of Erick, and Margaret Jean McIntyre and husband Ryan, also of Erick; seven grandchildren, Brooke and Conner Carlucci, Katie and Lexi Elizondo, and Kylie, Kenna and Weston McIntyre; her sisters and brother, Linda Oglethorpe of Texola, Okla., Roger Lance, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Kathy Lance, Stephenville, Texas; and two stepdaughters, Karri Chavez, Rockport, Texas, and Kimberly Lopez, Aransas Pass, Texas.

Mrs. West was preceded in death by her parents.

Lance Whaley and Devin Krause will officiate at the funeral. Burial will be in the Erick Cemetery.
