Bobby Golden

A graveside service will be held for Bobby L. Golden, 77, of Elk City, at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Butler Cemetery Pavilion.

Bobby Lewis Golden was born March 24, 1938, to Samuel Thee Golden and Zada Samantha (Baldwin) Golden in Rhea. He died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, in Elk City.

Golden was raised in Leedey and Center Pointe and graduated from Leedey High School in 1956. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force that same year, serving a four-year stint, and was honorably discharged in 1960.

Returning to Western Oklahoma, he settled in Leedey and married Sarah Willis in 1964. He started a carpentry business and was custodian for the Leedey schools from 1969 to 1975. He also worked as a carpenter in Oklahoma City and other areas.

Golden and his wife moved to Butler where they owned and operated the Butler Café for several years.  When he retired he moved to the Foss area, and had lived the past couple of years  in Elk City.   

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Everett Golden, Gordon Golden and Charles Golden; and a sister, Joanna Sprowls.

Survivors include two daughters, Dana Thomas, Elk City, and Katena Aldridge and husband Dustin of Carter; a son, Stacey Golden, Elk City; a sister, Laveta Burkhart, Del City; five grandchildren, Hali McBee-Van Hooser and husband Troy, Tyler, Texas, Dasa Fiallos and husband Josh, Fort Worth, Texas, Dalton Aldridge and wife Brittani, Shai Aldridge, and Sidni Aldridge, all of Carter; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be officiated by Doyle Kinney. Golden will also have military honors.
