Adalou Penner
Funeral services were held for Adalou Penner, 78, on Friday, at the Bible MB Church in Cordell. She died on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at her home in Cordell
Mrs. Penner was born Aug. 25, 1937, to Osborne Kiefer “OK” and Maudie (Matledge) Isbell, in Cloud Chief. She was raised in Cloud Chief, attended high school and graduated salutatorian from Corn Bible Academy, and later attended one year of college at Weatherford. In 1956 she married Wayman Penner, and the couple raised their children in Tulsa and Stillwater before moving back to Cordell.
While in Stillwater, Mrs. Penner typed her husband’s doctoral dissertation and also supplemented the family income by typing for others. In Tulsa she cared for children whose mothers had jobs outside the home, until she started her own business of sewing drapes, window treatments, bedspreads, pillows etc. for interior designers in Tulsa. She made wedding dresses for her three daughters as well as many other garments for her family. She also sewed costumes for Christmas programs for Bible School.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Vickie Esau and husband, Michael, Claremore, Cathy Dick and husband, Loren, Corn, and Sherry Widener and husband, Troy, Piedmont; two sons, Sandy Penner and wife, Debra, Weatherford, and Randy Penner and wife, Valerie, Tulsa; two brothers, George Isbell and wife, Barbara, Dill City, and W.H Isbell of Rogers, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Irene Penner, Corn, and Maralea Kliewer and husband, Roy, Corn; two brothers-in law, Harvey Penner and wife, Kaylin, Weatherford, and Randell Calvert of Durham; and a host of dear family and friends.
Services were officiated by Kevin Creed. Interment was at Bible MB Cemetery in Bessie, under the direction of Musick Varner Funeral Home in Cordell. Memorial donations can be made to Bible MB Church or to Corn Bible Academy, WOCS.
