Anita Yellow Eagle

Funeral services will be held for Anita Ann Yellow Eagle, 36, Weatherford resident, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Evangelical Free Church in Weatherford. She died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, in Mountain View.

Yellow Eagle was born Sept. 12, 1979, to Thern Starr and Yolanda Yellow Eagle, in Weatherford. She was raised in Weatherford where she graduated from high school in 1998. She received her Certified Nursing Certificate and continued her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and was also employed with the Lucky Star Casino in Clinton as a black jack Dealer for over 12 years.

Yellow Eagle was a member of the Cheyenne/Arapaho Tribes and Native American Church.

She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Ben Joe Yellow Eagle; and her maternal grandmother, Minnie Yellow Eagle.

Survivors include a son, Chris Tall Bear, Thomas; two daughters, Pavenah Tall Bear, Thomas, and Ofelia Yellow Eagle, Mountain View; a sister, Julia Tartsah; her mother and step father, Yolanda and Raymond Cometsevah, a brother, Jared Yellow Eagle, and grandparents Ben and Joan Yellow Eagle, all of Walsenburg, Colo.; adoptive parents Garett and Elizabeth Tartsah, Mountain View; paternal grandfather Moses Starr, Weatherford; grandmother Beulah Penn, Clinton; and grandfather Leonard Yellow Eagle, Weatherford.   

Services will be officiated by Rev. Gerald Watson and Rev. Rudolph Tartsah Jr.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

A traditional all night wake service will be held starting at 7 p.m. tonight (Friday) in the Clinton Cheyenne Arapaho Community Building.
