Molly Klump

Funeral services will be held for Molly Gaye Klump, 79, Clinton resident, at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) in the First Baptist Church. She died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Klump was born Nov. 18, 1936, to George Milton Green and Dorothy Icel (Alexander) Green, in Hobart. She grew up in the Rocky community and attended Dill City Grade School.

In 1947 the family moved to Clinton, where her dad opened a gas and grocery store on Route 66. She attended Clinton schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1956. She served as the president of FHA, was a member of Gimmel Teth Club and Glee Club, and was chosen as the FFA Sweetheart.

Soon after graduation she married Gale William Klump on Sept. 1, 1956, in Clinton. They made their home in Clinton and raised three children.

Mrs. Klump was always involved in their school activities, serving as president of the PTA, and worked to bring special education classes into the Clinton school system.

She was employed at the Robertson Music Store, Sears-Roebuck Company and Northup Jewelry, and managed the Shantel Jewelry Store in the late 1970s for about 10 years until retiring.

Mrs. Klump attended the Primitive Baptist Church in Rocky for many years until her children were teenagers, then became a member of the Broadway Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, and later moved her membership to the First Baptist Church where she worked in the Creepers and Toddlers Sunday School program. She also served meals, helped with funeral dinners and designed bulletin boards in the hallways.  

For over 20 years she served as an auxiliary volunteer at the Clinton Regional Hospital. She enjoyed water skiing and dancing, and made the most cherished scrapbooks for her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Della Jo (Green) Christian; and a brother-in-law, John Noble.  

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two daughters, Kimberlyn Kaye (Klump) Hubbard and husband, Bruce, and Kristi Gaye (Klump) Bomgren; a son, Kurt William Klump; a sister, Opal Lee Noble; a brother-in-law, Elton Christian; two grandchildren, Judi Bomgren and Rowdy Bomgren; numerous nieces and nephews, including DeAnn Klump Elliott; and a lifelong friend, Mary Sue (Stout) Northup, as well as many other family and friends.

Services will be officiated by Robin Palesano, Terrill Mitchell and J.W. O’Neal. Interment will be at Lone Star Cemetery in Rocky under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
