Jean Wohl

Funeral services for Jean Wohl, 86, of Clinton, were held Monday at Kiesau Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Wohl died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, in Weatherford.

She was born Aug. 9, 1929, to General Jackson Davis and Sylvia Iona (Smith) Davis, in Steedman. Her family came to western Oklahoma when she was 6 weeks old. They settled in Butler, where she started her schooling, graduating from Butler High School in 1945. She married Frank Wohl in 1947, in Butler, and they made their home in Clinton.

She was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Gunn Brothers Stamp Store, Green Stamp Store and eventually owned and operated Jean’s Children Store in downtown Clinton.

Mrs. Wohl was a longtime member of the First Christian Church. She served as president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was also a member of the OCE Home Demonstration Club.  She was awarded the first Athena Award by the Business and Professional Organization in 1986. She was on numerous bowling teams, was an avid gardener, and loved playing cards and spending time with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Brenda Wilhelm.

She is survived by three sons, (twins) Danny Wohl and wife, Laura, of Custer City, and Ranny Wohl and Susan Dunlap, of Bixby, and Michael Wohl, Hollister, of Mo.; a son-in-law, Terry Wilhelm, of Clinton; five grandchildren, Danny Wohl and wife, Becky, Rodney Wohl and wife, Samantha, Shane Wohl and wife, Alicia, Suzanne Hughes, and Jason Hughes and wife, Amy; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were officiated by Doyle Kinney and Chaplain Dan Day, followed by interment at Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
