Clements Klein
A Mass of Christian burial for Clements Klein, 93, of Custer City, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in the Methodist Health Care Center at Clinton.
Clements P. Klein was born Sept. 18, 1922, to Adolph and Mary (Neyes) Klein on the family farm near Custer City, where he lived his entire life. He attended the Independence School.
Klein was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Forces on Nov. 11, 1942, and served during WWII as a Medical Administrative Specialist. He was honorably discharged in February of 1946, with the rank of Corporal.
In 1943 he married Hermina Huber at the Anthon Catholic Church. The couple farmed and raised cattle together their entire married life. They each had their own tractor, and worked side by side. At the time of Klein’s death they had been married over 72 years.
He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and enjoyed doing carpentry and wood work, and driving the tractor.
Klein was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lawrence Klein.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Margaret Landrum and husband Butch, of Weatherford; and a sister, Rita Schimmer, of Custer City.
A rosary and wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.
The Mass of Christian burial will be officiated by Father Thomas Pudota. Interment will follow at Anthon Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
