Dr. Kirk Gastineau

Funeral services for Dr. Kirk Gastineau, D.O., 59, formerly of Clinton and now of Kalama, Wash., will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Christian Church.

He died Saturday, April 30, 2016, in Tulsa.

Glenn Kirk Gastineau was born Oct. 31, 1956, to Glenn and Sue Carol (Walton) Gastineau, in Clinton. He was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1974. He was a member of the

Clinton marching band and concert band, was an honor roll member, and a member of the Math and Science Club. He was also active in scouting.
Gastineau attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he received bachelor’s degrees in chemistry, biology and pharmacy. While attending SWOSU, he served as Biology Club President, was a member of the Pharmacy Association, Chemistry Club, President’s Honor Roll, Dean’s Honor Roll, Beta-Beta- Beta Fraternity, the Wesley Foundation, and served with the Young Republicans.

He was accepted to medical school in Tulsa and attended Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine. He received his medical degree and was a member of the American Osteopathic Association.
Gastineau married Kim Gerner in 1982, in Broken Arrow. They made their home in Clinton and raised their family. He was employed with Salisbury Pharmacy while attending SWOSU and then began his medical practice, the Clinton Family Care Clinic. While still in Clinton, he went into private practice. He also practiced at the Clinton Veterans Center and the Clinton Indian Hospital.

In 2005 Gastineau moved to Montana and worked for the Indian Crow Agency. He most recently moved to Kalama, Wash. He practiced with Kaiser Permanente Physicians and Surgeons in Longview, Wash., until his death.

He was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed photography, skiing and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kim; grandparents, Carl and Lucille Walton and Gilbert Gastineau and Letha and Jay Slakey.

He is survived by his daughter, Emily Gastineau and Libby McCaskill, of Oklahoma City; two sons, Stephen Gastineau and wife, Charla of Broken Arrow, and Kyle Gastineau; his parents; partner, Mario Viscarrett, of Kalama, Wash.; two brothers, Mike Gastineau and wife, Marti, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Joe Gastineau and wife, Cheri Lou, of Clinton.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, C.J., Cole, Carter, and Cain, all of Broken Arrow; three nephews, Alex Gastineau, of Denver, Colo., Tyler Gastineau, of Fort Worth, and Wesley Gastineu, of Levelland, Texas; three great-nieces and nephews; his aunt, Jeanette Uhles, of Broken Arrow; and cousins, Heather and Alan Bates, of Broken Arrow.

Services will be officiated by Doyle Kinney under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
