Stephen Haggard

Funeral services for Stephen Mark Haggard, 48, of Arapaho, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at his rural Arapaho home.
Haggard was born April 26, 1968, to Stephen D. and Carolyn Sue (Seabourn) Haggard, in Clinton. He was raised in Arapaho, where he graduated from high school in 1986. He continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and received his Registered Nurse Certificate.
He worked for Janesville in Burns Flat for approximately eight years. He then moved to the Oklahoma City area, where he worked for Veterans Hospital and Integris Baptist Hospital. Haggard continued his education after moving to Jonesboro, Ark., where he attended Arkansas State University and earned a master’s degree in anesthesiology.
He then returned to the Clinton area and worked for the Elk City Hospital. For the past several years he had been employed by the Mangum Hospital.
Haggard married Brenda Fawver on March 13, 2014, in Clinton. The couple made their home on the family farm, northwest of Arapaho.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and most recently had been attending Freewill Baptist Church. Haggard enjoyed reading and studying the Bible, snow skiing and playing games, especially Rook.  He enjoyed being with family and friends and loved inviting them over to celebrate Fourth of July with him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard Haggard; and his maternal grandparents, George and Sarah Seabourn.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughter, Kristen Haggard, of Yukon; step-daughter, Ashely Addington and spouse, Michelle; step-son, Joseph Williams; his parents; sister, Michelle Garner and husband, David, of Anchorage, Alaska; paternal grandmother, Genevieve Haggard; and aunt, Marie Haggard, all of Clinton; three grandchildren, Aryia Evonia Crawford, Sawyer Addington and Jaron Williams; a nephew, Warren Garner; and numerous other relatives including aunts and uncles.  
The family has suggested those wanting to give a memorial contribution do so to the First Baptist Church or to the Freewill Baptist Church in Clinton.
The service will be officiated by Pastors Chris Fields, Charles Murphy and Sandy Shepherd. Interment will follow at Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
