Softball preps for season with scrimmage
Clinton softball began its varsity season Thursday with a scrimmage against 2015, 1A state champion Binger-Oney.
The coaches did not keep score. The scrimmage was used for practice purposes only. Outside of that, the scrimmage was solid practice for the Lady Reds. Binger-Oney is a highly successful program in Oklahoma. They have three state championships in the last six seasons in fast-pitch softball. The Bobcats also won a slow-pitch championship in 2011. So, Clinton had its hands full.
Although they didn’t keep score, the Lady Reds struggled to keep up with the Lady Bobcats. They were shut down for the first two innings while Binger-Oney opened a 5-0 lead in the third. From there, the starters began to shuffle around and head coach Lisa Moss began to get experience for the backups and relief pitchers.
Although it was a tough game, coach Moss was happy with her team’s showing.
