Two killed in Bessie shooting

A 27-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and himself Sunday night at their residence in Bessie. Both were shot.
The dead were identified by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation as Tyler Scott Sloan and Ciara Dawn Sloan, 23.
Washita County Sheriff Roger Reeve said his office received a call at 8:34 p.m. Sunday that two people and possibly more had been shot in their trailer house at 404 Seventh St. in Bessie. Reeve said the “possibly more” turned out to be a mistake and only the two people were killed.
“We secured the scene and turned it over to OSBI,” said Reeve. “I did not go in the house.”
Special Agent Steve Tanner of OSBI said the Sheriff’s Office was notified that a man had shot himself and there was also a woman dead inside the house. “Sheriff Reeve requested OSBI investigate the deaths and do a crime scene investigation,” said Tanner.
He said the bodies were taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office where autopsies would be conducted to determine the causes and manners of death.
Amy Elliott, spokesperson for the M.E.’s Office, said she felt sure toxicology tests would be conducted and that probably would take four to six weeks.
The house where the bodies were found is located in downtown Bessie behind the former school gymnasium.
