Alvera Dickerson
Graveside services for Alvera L. Dickerson, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Peace Lutheran Cemetery at Bessie.
Mrs. Dickerson died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in Purcell.
She was born Feb. 13, 1927, to Louis and Rosa (Reinschmidt) Gerner, in Bessie. In 1951 she married Claude L. Dickerson in Oklahoma City.
She worked as an administrator for the Altec Lansing Corporation in Oklahoma City, retiring after 18 years. Prior to that, she worked at Montgomery Wards and Cutchall’s Men’s Fine Clothing.
She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing and teaching her culinary skills to her grandchildren. She loved preparing and hosting meals for her family and friends, and was known for always having freshly baked goods on hand. She was a devoted grandmother, and sang in the choir at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she had been a member of the congregation since 1960.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Oliver and husband Chris, of Norman; two sisters, Grace Spradlin, of Clinton, and Mary Clarkson, of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Jeremy Love, of The Colony, Texas, Jessica Nelson and husband Scott, of Austin, Texas, Ashley Oliver, of Norman, and Ryland Oliver and wife Kiran, of Norman; two great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Oliver and Kiegan Oliver, of Norman, with another on the way; and a host of nieces, cousins, and other family.
