Arlie Willis Hamburger
Funeral services for Arlie Willis Hamburger, 87, of Weatherford, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Zion Church.
He died at home Thursday, June 18, 2015, in Weatherford.
He was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Weatherford the son of Louie and Lydia (Schreiner) Hamburger. He was raised south of Weatherford and attended Missouri Grade School and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1945. During these school years he lived and helped his father farm on their home place.
In 1954, he married Pauline Lee of Eakly who preceded him in death in 1986.
In 1961, Hamburger and his brother, Jerry, began the Bell Station and ran an ice business that supplied many businesses in Weatherford. In 1962, they opened H&H Salvage on Washington Street and continued farming.
In 1968, they moved the salvage company to its current location, south on Custer Street until in 1980, they ended their partnership. Hamburger then opened a used car business and wrecker service on west Main Street. He continued to be active in farming and ranching.
Mr. Hamburger was a member of the Zion Church and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior in 1975, along with his wife, Pauline.
On Nov. 12, 1993, he married Yolanda Hancock and they made their home in Weatherford. Mr. Hamburger enjoyed going to sales and auctions, singing “old fashion” western and gospel music and was an avid reader of newspapers and sale papers. He enjoyed the Round-up Club, league bowling and playing dominoes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline; brother, Jerry Hamburger; and brother-in-law, Samuel Lee Sayler.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Yolanda Hamburger of their home in Weatherford; two daughters, Gayleen Cook of Weatherford, and Cindy Beard and husband, Tim, of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Leon Lacy and wife, Emily, of Blanchard; one sister, LaVern Saylor of Weatherford; six grandchildren, Ray Buckley and wife, Mindy, of Weatherford, Shelbi Cook and Chris Elder of Hydro, Brad Lacy of Bonham, Texas, Brooke Smith and husband, Joey, of Blanchard, Zak Beard of San Francisco, Calif., and Lauren O’Hara and husband, Joe, of Atlanta; and seven great-grandchildren, Will, Worth, and Wyatt Lacy of Bonham, Texas, Finn and Porter Smith of Blanchard, and Maeme and Dodge Elder of Hydro.
Pastor Jason Ewing will officiate the service with Pastor Ron Thiessen assisting. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
