Barbara Wright

Funeral services for Barbara Winfred Wright, 81, of Weatherford, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in “The Chapel” of Lockstone Funeral Home.

She died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Kindred Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Wright was born Feb. 28, 1935, in Washington, D.C., to Forrest D. and Elsie Grace (Higginbotham) Dowell. She was raised and attended school in Fairfax, Va., and graduated from high school in 1953. She attended Dallas Christian College where she met John DeWayne Wright, whom she later married at Dallas in 1957.

The couple made their homes in Mena, Ark., Pampa and Borger, Texas, and in Fletcher and Sayre, Okla. They settled in Weatherford in 2005.

Before transferring to Weatherford, Wright worked at Red River Transportation in Sayre as dispatcher and van driver.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Heighter, Roger and Eddie; and two sisters, Faith and Joyce.

Barbara is survived by her husband, of the home; three daughters, Anita Grice and husband Kit, of Sherman, Texas, Kimberly Ogle and husband Christopher, of Carl Junction, Mo., and Bobbi Johnson, of Midwest City; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Custer City Christian Church.

Services will be officiated by Doyle Kinney and Gilbert Forrest. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford.
