Bil Butler
Funeral services for Bill Bush Butler, 84, of Weatherford, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
He passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, in Weatherford.
Mr. Butler was born in Omega on Nov. 25, 1931, to Sam and Esther Butler. He was raised on the family farm west of Omega and attended Omega Public Schools, graduating from Omega High School in 1949.
He operated a service station in Watonga until 1958, when he joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He proudly served for 26 years before retiring in 1984. He worked as a trooper in Guymon, Clinton and Weatherford, and finally as a lake patrolman for many years in western Oklahoma. He also worked for 10 years in the security business. Bill enjoyed being on the lake fishing, and frying fish, playing dominoes and cards, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Diane and Charlotte; one son, Mitch; and a great-granddaughter, Stephanie.
Bill is survived by his wife, Vera Butler, of the home in Weatherford; two sons, Jerry Butler, of Weatherford, and Dylan Butler and wife, Mikaela Ifrim, of Oman; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Retired Oklahoma Troopers Association.
Interment will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
