Bobby Joe Elliott

Funeral services for Bobby Joe Elliott, 79, Clinton resident, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, officiated by Doyle Kinney.

Elliott lost his battle to cancer on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, in his Clinton home.

He was born May 8, 1935, in Leedey, the son of Carl Leroy and Cecil (Weir) Elliott.

Elliott started his young life in Lions, Kan., where he started school. His dad died when he was a young boy, and the family moved to Clinton. Elliott continued his schooling here, graduating in 1954.

He excelled in industrial arts in shop and many of the skills he learned there were used throughout his life.

He married Eva Snider on Dec. 19, 1954, in Weatherford.  They were married for nearly 60 years.

In 1956 Elliott went to work for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation where he spent the majority of his working years.

He worked for Milchem Inc. during the earlier oil field years, then went back to ODOT until his retirement.

After retirement, Elliott worked for the City of Clinton for a number of years and then helped his grandson, Robert, at Beaver Express.

Elliott won a number of trophies in golfing, racing, playing pool and even for performing at the Southwest Playhouse, where he won for Best Character Actor.

Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant son, Rodney; a daughter-in-law, Angie (Thornton) Elliott; a great-grandson, Darren Ernst; his mother- and father-in-law, Berna and Frieda Snider and their children, Waneta, R.C., Lloyd and Orville, and Duane.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Carl Elliott; grandson, Robert Elliott, and his wife, Deann, and great-grandson, Race Elliott, all of Clinton; one sister, Carlene Gravlee and her husband, Gerald, of Chattanooga; two brothers, Jack Elliott and his wife, Dorothy, of Oklahoma City, and Larry Dodson and his wife, Lee-Lee, of Yukon; his brother- and sisters-in-law, Doris, Maxine and Gordon;  and many nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow in the Arapaho Cemetery.
