Fred Perryman
Funeral services will be held today for Fred Perryman, 89, of Duke, at 10 a.m. in the Duke Baptist Church.
He died Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Perryman was born April 19, 1927, to Thomas Edwin Perryman and Gertrude (Wheeler) Perryman, northeast of Duke. He attended school in Duke, and then joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II. After his service, he completed his senior year of high school.
In 1947 he married Bonnie B. Foreman. They lived in the Duke community until 1956, when they moved to Stillwater where Perryman earned a degree in agriculture education.
Perryman was a vocational agriculture instructor at Butler for a few years, and then began working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. His job with the Agriculture Department took him to Walters, Okemah and Clinton, where he served for 25 years. After his retirement he returned to his rural home in Duke.
He was ordained as a deacon at the Hillcrest Baptist Church while he was in school at Oklahoma State University.
Perryman was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ted and Tom Perryman; and his sister, Wilma Warren.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Philip Perryman and wife Lana, of Apache, Fred Arlen Perryman and wife Lillian, of Edmond, and Dale Perryman and wife Sezen, of Dallas; his daughter, Freda Beall and husband Charles, of Bixby; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the Perryman family has requested memorials be sent to a fund set up for his son Fred Arlen Perryman’s Parkinson’s medical procedure.
