Jesse V. Hayes

Memorial services for Jesse V. Hayes, 82, of Zellwood, Fla., formerly from Clinton, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kiesau-Lee Memorial Chapel.
Hayes died Aug. 12, 2015.
He was born May 21, 1933, in McDuffie County, Ga.   
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Texas where he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Hemmer. Shortly after completion of his enlistment they were married and moved to Port Lavaca, Texas, where Mr. Hayes worked for Alcoa.
He left Alcoa to pursue a career in hospital administration at Champ Traylor Memorial Hospital and after a short period of time moved to Austin, Texas, where he was the administrator of Holy Cross Hospital.
While in this role he served on several committees for the Texas Hospital Association, oversaw the planning and construction of Austin’s first radiology clinic for the treatment of cancer, and spearheaded Austin’s first outpatient/surgery facility, Bailey Square Surgery Center.
In the mid-’70s the family moved to Orlando, Fla., where he managed Mercy Hospital. Then came Paris, Texas, where he was the administrator of McQuistion Regional Medical Center.
In the early ’80s the family moved to Clinton where he served as the administrator of Clinton Regional Hospital until he retired to start Medical Monitoring Inc.
Mr. Hayes’ wife preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2007, and after a few years he moved to Zellwood to be close to his two oldest children. He was active in his church wherever he lived as well as a Knights of Columbus member.
He is survived by his five children, John Hayes of Orlando, Joanna Pickering and her husband, Andy, also of Orlando, Jeffery Hayes and his wife, Wendy, of Austin, Jesse Paul Hayes of Oklahoma City, and Jerry Hayes of The Colony, Texas; as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  
Deacon Bill Hough will officiate the service and interment will follow in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
