Johnny Galvan

A mass of Christian burial for Johnny “Poncho” Galvan Sr., 68, of Butler, will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clinton.
He died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, in his Butler home.
Johnny Flores “Poncho” Galvan Sr. was born June 24, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas.
He was raised in San Antonio until he was 14 years old. He made his home later in Hollis where he did farm labor.  
Galvan married Maria Ylanda Pena April 24, 1960.  In 1961 they moved to Butler and raised their eight children.  
“Poncho” was employed with P&M Feed Mill where he retired after 30 years in 2003.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed doing anything to keep him busy, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Galvan was preceded in death by his two sons, Ricky and Rudy, and a daughter-in-law, Denise.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; five sons, Johnny, Amado, Leo, Freddy and Jesus; a daughter, Janie; 14 grandchildren, Wesley, Siera, Cody, Anna, Elaina, Chris, Collin, Tyler, Katy, Johnny (J.J.), Cerena, Ricky, Marissa, Abel; and 13 great-grandchildren, Damon, MaKenzey, Ashlyn, Wesley, Makayla, Autumn, Eric, Steven, Aiden, Brock, Aubrany, Conner and Xaivor.
The services will be officiated by Father Thomas Pudota. Burial will conclude in Butler Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
