Jon Paul Sumpter

A chapel service will be held for Jon Paul Sumpter, 32, resident of Silver Lake, Kan., at 11 a.m. today (Saturday) in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel. He died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, in Jackson County, Kansas.

Sumpter was born Oct. 13, 1983, to Scott C. Sumpter and Patti (Anderson) Welbourne, in Clinton. He was raised in the Clinton, Arapaho and Putnam City areas, and was a 2003 graduate of Silver Lake, Kan. He was honored by being Student of the Month, and was employed as a welder and in construction. He was a gifted artist and enjoyed skate boarding, BMX Riding and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Clyde Anderson Sr., and his grandmother, Coleen Cometsevah.

He is survived by his parents, Scott C. Sumpter, of Clinton, and Patti and Elwin Welbourne, of Silver Lake, Kan.; a sister, Tessa Welbourne of Silver Lake, Kan.; two brothers, Justin Sumpter, of Topeka, Kan., and Matthew Welbourne, of Silver Lake, Kan.

Services will be officiated by Gerald Panana. Interment will follow at Butler Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
