Juan T Lira Jr
Funeral services for Juan T. Lira Jr., 44, Clinton and Cowden resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Cheyenne/Arapaho Community Building. A traditional all-night wake service will start at 7 p.m. today in the Life Abundant Church.
He died in a pedestrian/car accident Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015.
Juan Trinidad Lira Jr. was born May 25, 1971, in Clinton, the son of Ula and Juan Trinidad Lira Sr.
He was raised in Vernon, Texas, and Chillicothe, Texas, graduating from Treasure Lake High School. He joined the Job Corps when he was 16 years old. He worked in Florida and Georgia as a certified concrete finisher.
Lira moved back to Oklahoma in 1995 and had lived in the Clinton and Cordell/Cowden areas. He had been employed with Sewell Brothers Construction, Everett Musick and Roger Thompson.
He was a member of the Pentecostal Church, and the Cheyenne/Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. He enjoyed breeding and raising roosters and cock fighting.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Angela Lira Leija and Jennifer Lira.
Survivors include his parents, Ula and Juan Lira Sr. of Cowden; two sisters, Juanita Lira Anaya of Vernon and Margarita Lira Nava of Clinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be officiated by Rev. Ramus Hicks and Rev. George Akeen. Burial will be in the Clinton Indian Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
