Lloyd Eldon Eddy

A memorial service for Lloyd Eldon Eddy, 79, Burns Flat, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at New Beginnings Assembly of God Church in Cordell.

Eddy died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Eddy was born July 13, 1936, in Clinton, the son of Charles and Pearl Eddy. He attended school in Clinton where he was active in baseball and Golden Gloves boxing.

On July 25, 1952, Eddy married Barbara June Hauff. To this union five children were born.

In 1955 he joined the U.S. Air Force and served for four years. He was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, and was later transferred to Warner Robbins AFB in Georgia.

After moving back to Oklahoma, Eddy attended Bethany Nazarene College while working for the Bureau of Reclamation. As a draftsman, he helped in drawing up plans for Foss Reservoir.

After finishing Bible college, Eddy ministered in Oklahoma, Georgia and Kansas. Upon settling in Burns Flat, he took a position as an insurance agent and held it until he retired. During this time he ministered at the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite for several years.

He sang and played the guitar.

Eddy also was a longtime member of the American Legion in Clinton. During this time, he served two years as chaplain and one year as adjutant.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and Pearl, a sister, Patsy, and his brother Duane.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; three sons, Charles Eddy and wife Carol of Burns Flat, Mark Eddy and wife Sylvia of El Paso, Texas, and Kevin Eddy and wife Nancy of Yukon; two daughters, Angela Wright of OKC and Leisha Schneberger and husband Fred of Burns Flat; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Irvin Eddy and wife Sharon of Custer City and

Bobby Eddy of Clinton; and a host of nephews and nieces.
