Preston Phillips

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Castle Falls Event Center at 1 p.m.

Preston Grant Phillips, 71, passed away peacefully on Oct. 31, 2015. He was born on Aug. 5, 1944, in Clinton, Oklahoma to Joe Phillips and Berylene Bredy. He graduated from Stafford High School in 1962. He attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Preston entered the United States Air Force in January 1966, served in Vietnam and rose to the rank of Sergeant.

In 1979 he moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and married his loving wife, Charlene. He worked in the automotive and trucking industry for 40 years.

Preston enjoyed watching television, reading western books, drinking coffee, eating chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, and spending time with family.

Preston is survived by his wife, Charlene Phillips, of 35 years; two children, LaTisha Brogdon of Powder Springs, Georgia, and Christopher Phillips of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and son-in-law John Daniel Brogdon of Powder Springs, Georgia. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Jo Tharp of Custer City, Oklahoma, and Iris Rupe of Simi Valley, California; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Preston was preceded in death by his parents and beloved step-father, Delbert Bredy.

Castle Fall is located at 820 N. MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73127. Interment will be at Ft. Sill National Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Integris Hospice House at www.integrisok.com/hospice-oklahoma-city-ok-services-donations.
