R.C. Byrd

Funeral Services for R.C. Byrd, 23, of Clinton, were held Monday in the First Christian Church.

He died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, in Arapaho.

Roger Colten Byrd was born May 25, 1992, to Bob Brent Byrd and Amy Dawn (Snider) Byrd, in Oklahoma City. He was raised in Clinton, and graduated from Clinton High School in 2011.  He worked in the oilfields for a few years and then started his farming career, which was his passion.

Byrd enjoyed hunting, spending time with his friends, and most of all hanging out with his son, Colt. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Angela Byrd; great-grandparents, Don and Glenda Lorenz and Weldon and Margery Snider.

Survivors include his parents, Brent and Shawna Byrd and Amy and Bobby Avera, all of Clinton; his son, Roger Colt Byrd; the mother of his son, Linley Schmidt, of Dill City; a sister, Chelsey Willoughby and husband, Jakeb, of Clinton; a step-sister, Dawn Casias and husband, Alex, of Burns Flat; a step-brother, Tracy Avera and wife, Mariah, of Elk City; his paternal grandfather, Bob Byrd, of Clinton; maternal grandparents, Roger and Donna Snider, of Clinton, and Rod and Sharon Raasch, of Snyder.

He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.    

A trust fund has been set up for Byrd’s son at Oklahoma Bank and Trust, 600 West Gary Blvd. Clinton, OK 73601.

The services were officiated by Doyle Kinney.  Byrd was interred at Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
