Rickey Bolar

 

Funeral services for Rickey G. Bolar, 60, of Clinton, former Chief of Police for Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, will be held at 10 a.m. today in the Life Fellowship Church in Weatherford.
He died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, in the Oklahoma University Trauma Center in Oklahoma City. Even in death, he continued his legacy of giving through organ and tissue donation. 
Rickey Garold Bolar was born Sept. 10, 1957, to Garold and Pauline (Stevens) Bolar in Waynoka. He was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High school in 1975. 
On May 22, 1982, he married Robin Dodge in Clinton, where the couple made their home. 
Bolar had an 18-year career with Santa Fe Railway before joining the SWOSU Police Department in 1998. He was promoted to Chief of Police there in 2006, and then retired in 2014. He remained a reserve police officer until his death. He had been most recently employed by the Cummins dealership in Weatherford.
He was a member of the Life Fellowship Church in Weatherford, where he was also in charge of the security team. Bolar loved the outdoors, fishing, kayaking, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking trips with family and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Mallory Smith and husband Ronnie of Weatherford and Glorietta Popetsaitke of Mustang; a son, Flair Popetsaitke of Montana; four sisters, Linda Vess of Oklahoma City, Beverly Bolar of Clinton, Connie Cabaniss and husband Roger of Clinton, and Penny Burgess and husband Rick of Piedmont.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ryker Smith, Xander Smith, Sawyer Smith and Sophia Popetsaitke; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family. 
The family has suggested memorials may be made to the Chief Rick Bolar Fund, SWOSU Foundation, 100 Campus Drive, Weatherford, OK 73096. 
The service will be officiated by Pastors Nate Hicks and Doyle Kinney. Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
