Robert Rubchinuk
Funeral services will be held for Robert Fred Rubchinuk, 66, of Thomas, at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Freedom Worship Center (Assembly of God) in Thomas.
He died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in Thomas.
Mr. Rubchinuk was born Jan. 3, 1950, to Fred and Marcella (Hebb) Rubchinuk. He was raised in Middleton, Mass. and attended Masconomet High School, graduating in 1968. He joined the U.S. Army and served for three years during the Vietnam War, and did three tours of duty.
In 1971, Rubchinuk married Lois Upton in Savannah, Ga. The couple first made their home in Danvers, Mass., and then moved to Oklahoma City in 1973. While there, he worked in sales and also trained horses at Remington Park Race Track. He moved to Thomas in 2010, and was working at Clinton Veterans Center at the time of his death.
He enjoyed training horses, playing golf and spending time with his family.
Rubchinuk was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two sisters, Ann and Kimberly.
He is survived by two daughters, Kelly London and husband Brian, of Thomas, and Shannon Long and husband Tim, of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Molly and Quinn London and Rylee Flowers; two brothers, Mark Rubchinuk and wife Cindy, of Danvers, Mass., and Timothy Rubchinuk, of Boston, Mass.; three sisters, Diane LeBlanc and husband Jerry, of Brown Mills, N.J., Linda McCarthy and husband George, of Seabrook, N.H., and Lisa Rubchinuk, of Willingboro, N.J.; and his beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The service will be officiated by Pastor Jerry Yoder and Pastor Jeff Selzer. Interment will follow at Mound Valley Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
