Roger Lee Rice

A memorial service for Roger Rice, long-time Clinton resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.
He died July 21, 2016, at Grace Living Center in Clinton.
Roger Lee Rice was born March 2, 1941, to Ruth Irene Soden and Howard Glen Rice, in Severance, Kan. He grew up and attended elementary and high school in Robinson, Kan.
He then served twice in the Army during the Vietnam conflict. He first served as a soldier with on-ground forces, until he contracted malaria and was sent back to the U.S. to recover. He then returned to active duty and served as a helicopter gunman. 
As a young adult, Rice worked laying television cable around the country, including Oklahoma and Colorado. He also worked for others and independently as a truck driver, delivering goods across the U.S.
Rice was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Terry Lee Rice Sr.; and two sisters, Jessie Sharon Rice and Joyce Rice Sorter.
He is survived by his two sons, Jeramia and Jase Rice, both of Clinton; his daughter, Tammy McKinley, of Foley, Ala.; his brother, Jerome Rice, of Corning, Kan.; his sister, Phyllis Branch, of Rayville, La.; his grandsons, Terry Lee Rice Jr., of St. Joseph, Mo., Michael Rice, of Weatherford, and Christopher Rice, of Goff, Kan.; his nephews Michael Shinn, of Dwight, Kan., Dennis Rice, of Goff, Kan., Danny Rice, of Nims City, Neb., and Randy Sorter, of Denver, Colo.; his niece, Sherrie Carter, of Rayville, La.; several great-grandchildren; and many other family members and dear friends.
The service will be officiated by Pastor Vann Leonard and under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Homes.
By Rice’s personal request, he will be cremated. A private burial will be held at a later time at Clinton Cemetery.
