Ron Leavell
Funeral Services for Ron Leavell, 74, Blackwell resident, former Clinton businessman and resident, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at the First United Methodist Church in Clinton.
Ron died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas.
He was born March 15, 1941, to Wilbur and Inez (Dugger) Leavell in Clinton. He was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1959. He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, and later received a degree in banking from the University of Wisconsin. He started in the banking business at Liberty Banking in Oklahoma City, and later Citizens National Bank (now Bank of the West) in Clinton. He spent several years with the Yellow Pages industry while living in California, Oregon and Texas. He has been a resident of Blackwell for the past several years, and employed there as the bank president at BancFirst. He was a longtime faithful member of the First United Methodist Church and an avid Oklahoma University football fan and contributor.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by two children, Bill Leavell and wife, Barbie, of Prosper, Texas, and Kara Lynn Conn and husband, Clifford “Trace”, of Rowlett, Texas; five grandchildren, Andrew James “AJ”, Matthew, Ami and Brooklyn Grace Leavell, and Shelby Conn. He is also survived by his good friend, Carol Hatcher, of Clinton.
Services will be officiated by Rev. Roland Youngberg. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
