Shyla Denee (Carr) Brehm
Funeral services for Shyla Denee (Carr) Brehm, 35, former Arapaho resident, who was living in Whitesboro, Texas, at the time of her death, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Clinton First Church of God, officiated by Rev. Roy Dobbs.
Mrs. Brehm was born Jan. 19, 1979, to Ray Carlton Carr and Rita MarLynn (O’Dell) Carr in Thomas and died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, in the Baylor Hospital emergency room in Grapevine, Texas.
Brehm had just returned from a trip to Africa where she had climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
She started school in Gotebo, and her family moved back to Arapaho when she was in the second grade.
While attending Arapaho Schools she was a star athlete on the Lady Indian basketball team, a member of the senior academic team, president of FHA and a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
She married Jason Brehm on July 25, 1998 in Clinton, and continued her education at Redlands Community College in El Reno toward her Registered Nurse certification.
Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Boyd and Deloris O’Dell; an uncle, David Wayne Carr; and a godson, Brent Aaron McGhee.
Survivors include her husband, Jason; two sons, Carson David Brehm and Caden Aaron Brehm, both of the home; her parents, Ray and Rita Carr, of Vernon, Texas; her sisters, Kerrastan Carr Cortez and her husband, Gilbert, of Dallas, Texas, and Kelsey Carr Davis and her husband, Jared, of Howe, Texas; a niece, Adrianna Carr Cortez, of Dallas, Texas; her paternal grandparents, W.C. and Lucille Carr, of Vernon, Texas; an aunt Terrie and uncle Glenn McGhee, of Wheeler, Texas. and a multitude of other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Burial will conclude in the Arapaho Cemetery, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.
