Sue Marie Smith
Funeral services for Sue Marie Smith, 78, were scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Tulia, Texas, with Rev. Jason Stone officiating.
Mrs. Smith died Friday, July 17, 2015, in Tulia. A graveside service is set at the Clinton Cemetery in Oklahoma at 4 p.m. today.
Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia, Texas.
Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 7, 1937, in Custer City, the daughter of Emra and Mattie Hazelbaker. She graduated from Seiling High School in 1955.
She was married to Meredith Gaylord and soon lost him in a car accident that year. She had a son with him, Meredith Leon.
She married Albert M. Smith Jr. in 1958 and had two daughters, Diana and Penny. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Clinton.
Following her second husband’s death, she moved to Tulia and joined the membership of Tulia First Baptist Church.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, Emra and Mattie Hazelbaker; one son, Meredith Smith; one brother, Johnny Hazelbaker; and one sister, Patricia Ann Hazelbaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana Machelle Brumley and her husband, Donnie, of Plainview, Texas, and Penny Sue Marten and her husband, Bill, of Tulia,Texas; two brothers: Richard Hazelbaker of Baxter, Tenn., and Kenneth Hazelbaker of Amarillo, Texas; one sister: Kathryn Palmer of Euless, Texas; seven grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Nathan Smith, Justin Brumley, Jordan Hayes, Ryan Marten, Emarie Marten and Aubry Mabry; and eight great-grandchildren with twins on the way.
