Windell Dunlap
Funeral services were held for Windell Bryan Dunlap, 73, on Saturday, Jan. 23, at First Baptist Church of Cordell. He died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, in Cordell.
Dunlap was born Nov. 14, 1942, to H.B. and Anna Lucille (Gibson) Dunlap, in Duncan. He was raised in Oklahoma and the family moved to Dill City in 1959, where he graduated from Dill City High School in 1960. He later attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. In 1965 he married Vicky Brown and they made their home in Cordell. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a drill instructor. He worked several years for Leo Leeper’s Furniture Store, managed United Supermarket until 1972, and then opened Dunlap Body Shop, which he managed until his death. Dunlap was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cordell.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Shirley Gambrell and husband, Jim; one daughter, Lesley Dunlap Klepczyk; and one infant brother.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; daughter Shelly Palesano and husband, Greg, Denton, Texas; son Chris Dunlap, Lewisville, Texas; eight grandchildren, Kaylin Lee and husband, Dennis, Jordan Dunlap, Taylor Dunlap, Landry Dunlap, Alex Palesano, Grant Palesano, Noah Klepczyk and Elijah Klepczyk; brothers Ronald Dunlap and wife, Sharon, Oklahoma City, and Jerold Dunlap and wife, Kay, Canyon Lake, Texas; and a host of family and friends.
The services were officiated by Rev Terrell Romberg, and interment was in Lawnview Cemetery.
