AllianceHealth Clinton earns four-star rating

AllianceHealth Clinton reached another milestone recently when it was named one of only 24 hospitals in Oklahoma to have received an overall rating of four out of five stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that runs the Medicare program.
The information used to arrive at the Overall Hospital Rating System score is collected from approximately 80 percent of U.S. hospitals, from inpatient and outpatient surveys. The findings are then displayed on CMS’s website, as a tool the public can use to make healthcare decisions.
Some of the measures used to calculate the overall rating are based only on data collected from Medicare patients, and some are based on data collected from all the hospital’s patients.
The last time Clinton Daily News reported on AllianceHealth Clinton’s rating was August of 2016, when it had been awarded three stars. In the two years since its overall star rating was reported on, Clinton’s hospital is the only area hospital to have had its rating upgraded. Others’ have either remained static or been downgraded.
AllianceHealth Clinton is currently the only four-star hospital within a 50-mile radius. The nearest five-star hospitals are in Oklahoma City, and are McBride Orthopedic Hospital; Community Hospital; Oklahoma Center for Orthopedic & Multi-Specialty Surgery; and Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
Hospitals near here whose ratings have remained the same are Weatherford Regional Hospital, with three stars; Mercy Hospital Logan County in Guthrie and Mercy Hospital Kingfisher, both four stars; and AllianceHealth Woodward, three stars.
Western Oklahoma hospitals whose ratings have been downgraded during the past two years are Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, from three stars to two stars; and Elkview General Hospital in Hobart, from three stars to two stars.
AllianceHealth Clinton CEO Landon Hise said the hospital’s rating means that it exceeds the national average in the categories measured, including mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care, and efficient use of medical imaging.
“We’re extremely pleased to be recognized as an outstanding hospital,” Hise said.
“The ranking speaks to the professionalism and dedication of every hospital staff member here, and I’m very proud to be associated with them.”
